Self-Love and Freedom
Today, I want to talk about what it means to be in love with yourself.
You are a soul, and your true inherent state is love. You see, we live in a world where we are constantly being shamed, programmed (all forms of media) and bombarded by the external world. People often think that the outside world is supposed to make them feel happy or loved. The outside world is purposely designed this way to keep us from discovering our power (self-love). The outside world tries to keep us small, in fear, and distracted from our inherent state of love and self-love.
There are many distractions for us in the outside world. How much money do I have in the bank? What kind of career do I have? What kind of car do I drive? How many friends do I have? How many likes do I get on social media when I post something? What do my clothes look like? What do ‘they’ think about me? I’ll be happy when I get the next best thing or job promotion. Unfortunately, materialism and consumerism have taken this world hostage and are the gods we have come to worship.
None of these external validations or gratifications are important when you die. What is important is how much you love yourself and others. How much did you forgive yourself, family, friends, or anyone who hurt you? How much did you give? How will you be remembered? How are you participating in up-leveling the collective consciousness? Did you break old family and ancestral energetic patterns? Did you conquer your addictions? Did you make peace and forgive yourself? Did you take responsibility for the people you hurt? These are just a few examples. True joy and self-love come from within once you awaken to the truth.
Each of our journeys to self-love is different. Some awaken into self-love through the death of a loved one. Some may awaken through beating an addiction or through sobriety. Some people will awaken after a near death experience. Others can awaken from experiencing the betrayal of a lover, business partner, friend, sibling, or boss, etc. Others can awaken from the loss of their dream job or career. Some can awaken through deep healing. Often people awaken through the healing of a terminal health diagnosis. Most people will have an experience that will shake them to the core of awakening and force them to discover their truth of self-love.
The universe wants you to love yourself because that is our true state of being. Life will conspire and keep manifesting difficult experiences on you till you awaken. Some people may never awaken to the truth or discover self-love. These individuals will live in a state of perpetual depression, sadness, anger, and/or rage.
How do you know that you are still a prisoner and not free?
Comparing yourself to others
Jealousy
Gossip
Unhappiness at others’ success
Stuck in old patterns
Not recognizing the growth in others
Blaming others for your problems
Not taking responsibility for your participation
Always playing the victim
Lying to yourself and others about your addictions
Staying in unhealthy and codependent relationships
Impulsive behaviors
Negative self-talk
Self-sabotage
Let’s do a little exercise right now.
Think about your current romantic partnership or, perhaps, a past romantic partnership that has ended.
How is it? Is it healthy? Do you fight? Do you laugh together? Do you communicate? Are you living in transparency? Do you judge each other? Are your dreams and goals supported? Do you participate in unhealthy coping habits? Is there blame, shame, and or victimhood? Do you have healthy boundaries? Are you seen and/or heard?
Here is the truth.
The way your partner loves you is a direct reflection of how much you love yourself. They cannot love you more than you love yourself. It’s energetically impossible for someone else to love you if you don’t love yourself.
Yes, they could have compassion for you or even be in love with your potential, but there is a difference. Before you can truly give or receive love, you must love yourself first. Self-love is the deepest of loves, for it sets the foundation for all other loves. This is universal truth.
The journey of discovering self-love is different for everyone. We’re all on our own different paths of healing, growth, and evolution. I invite you to turn your light inward and awaken to the truth of who you really are. You are a beautiful, perfect soul filled with love. You are a being of love and light. You came here to remember this truth. That’s it. This is why you incarnated and are living on this planet. Claim it now!
When you come to accept this truth and claim your inherent state of being, you are stepping into a very high vibration. The past will simply fall away. Old wounds will be healed, and you will be set free into dimensions of joy, happiness, and abundance. You will no longer be seeking love, validation, or external rewards. You will come to understand that true joy, happiness, and abundance come from loving and forgiving yourself first.
When you are in love with yourself, you won’t care what other people think because you don’t need their approval. You will already know the truth of who you are. Set strong boundaries, speak your truth, find compassion for others, forgive those who have hurt you, forgive yourself, and live in integrity. When you recognize the divine within yourself you will recognize the divine in others. After that, your entire world will change, because you will be living from your heart and not from your mind. These are the true ingredients of self-love and freedom.
